Common Name(s): Canadian Sphinx
Ecology: Adult description: This is a medium sized moth (33-43mm forewing length) (1). It is overall gray-brown with many black streaks on the forewings. There is usually white splotching near the black streaking. Tuttle notes that the best feature to distinguish this moth is that the black bands on the wings (except for the ones closest to the apical point) end in a well defined white dash near the outer edge (1). Larval description: L5: Larva has black and white markings on the head capsule. The body has varying amounts of brown splotching with white diagonal streaks on each abdominal segment. The horn is very large and white with black granules. Host plants: Click here to load this Caspio Cloud Database
