Common Name(s): Florestan Sphinx Ecology and Life History: This species is active from July through September in Arizona and New Mexico. As with other Manduca species, this species is highly attracted to artificial light. Both sexes are attracted to light, but females are much less common at it. Large numbers of this moth can be seen at the right time of year at lights. This is not a sexually dimorphic species. As with other Sphingidae, the males tend to have thinner, pointier abdomens, and the females larger, rounded, and blunted abdomens. Eggs are laid on the leaves and stems of hostplants. Larvae likely rest along the mid-veins of leaves during the day.
