Ecology: Adult description: This is a medium sized gray-brown sphingid with forewings 28-37mm in length (1). The forewings are relatively rounded. The base color of the wings is gray-brown, but the moth has several brown and black streaks on the forewings. The hindwings are entirely plain brown. The thorax is gray with two black lines on either side. Larval description: L5: The larva is usually green or brown in color. It is very boldly marked with orange streaking above the orange spiracles on the abdominal segments and large white splotches below. The entire larva is speckled in white and there is a white line on the anal plate. The horn is usually black. Found in areas with lots of Taxodium.
